I am Megan Kelly, the blogger behind By Megan Kelly, mom of two boys, named Axl (4-years old) and Eli (1-year old), and local business owner of Dr. Design. I live on copious amounts of coffee, work as a community manager and digital marketer, and spend my free time listening to podcasts while I garden or journal. I enjoy baking fresh treats for my family and love exploring our local city, looking for new family-friendly places for our kids to enjoy. On the weekend, you’ll likely find me shouting at the TV while watching soccer and showing my support for Tottenham, while pretending to know what I am doing in the Fantasy League. I can be bribed with chocolate and will never admit to having too much makeup – although, I probably do.
I started blogging in 2013 with the aim of sharing my latest beauty finds with friends and family. A few months later, we welcomed our oldest son, Axl. As I am sure you already know, beauty took a back seat and I was lucky if I managed to brush my teeth let alone shave my legs. I found the inspiration (somewhere between the exhaustion and craziness) to start sharing my own stories and experiences as a first-time parent juggling the life of a work-at-home mom fueled by chocolate, LOTS of caffeine and of course, an undeniable beauty addiction.
Three years later, my husband and I were feeling brave enough to do this parenting thing all over again (man, I think the exhaustion hadn’t yet worn off properly!). This time, welcoming our son, Eli, (yes, we have a thing for 3-letter names) who has reminded me all about the importance of having a good dry shampoo and how to do a full face of makeup in just 5-minutes. While I may seem like I have it all together, I really don’t and most times I am still in my PJs at 3pm trying to avoid the pile of dishes in the kitchen, while I convince myself that I can’t feed my kids nuggets for the fourth time this week.
I was only 19-years-old when I first started blogging and while I had initially only hoped to share beauty tips with a touch of parenting realness, I realize that like me, my blog has grown and evolved. I now use this platform as an outlet to express myself creatively while also documenting the big and small moments of my life. Sure, I like that I get to test and review new and exciting products but more than that, I really love that I am able to connect with other people just like me!
