1-2-3 Makeup Products for Busy Moms

Since Axl started school, I find myself with so much less time in the mornings and while I’d love the convenience of going in my PJs, I am sort of required to walk him into school, where I make the obligatory small talk with other moms, the receptionist, his principal and teacher.  So, with the hope of looking like I have my life somewhat together, I have created my own no-fuss routine which takes no time, and depending on just how late I am, requires 1, 2 or 3 products to create.

Maybelline Fit Me Concealer

I cannot believe that I have not spoken about this gem on my blog, especially as it has been my go-to for the better part of this year. I use shade 15 to cover up any dark spots on my face, and shade 05 to brighten the area under my eyes, blending it all in with a Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge. The gel-like formula is light on the skin and provides a natural coverage that leaves your complexion looking flawless and even manages to cover this momma’s eye-luggage. I love just how well it covers up any imperfections, and makes my skin appear bright and healthy, without looking cakey. It really is perfect for everyday no-fuss makeup, and on days when I have no time at all, I am quite happy to leave the house just like this! There are 12 shades to choose from, proving to be Maybelline’s most diverse range of concealers.

Essence Volume Stylist 18hr Lash Mascara

This addition should come as no surprise! In fact, I first spoke about the Essence Volume Stylist 18hr Lash Mascara in May of last year and it continues to be one of my favourite mascaras of all time, beating just about every high-end mascara on the market! On days when I have more than 2 minutes to blend in my concealer, I use this mascara to give my lashes an instant boost. I love that the creamy formula is quite dry, so I don’t have to wait around with the hopes of it not transferring to my lid (there’s literally no time for waiting around) and love the bold volume and lift it gives my lashes. It’s also incredibly long-lasting and if I don’t pay too much attention to removing my makeup (lazy much?), I usually still have traces of it the day after application.

Revlon Color Charge Superlusterous Lipgloss

Gone are the days of matte everything, rather give me fresh, dewy and glossy! I have gone back and forth trying new lipglosses but keep coming back to the Revlon Color Charge Superlusterous Lipgloss in Punchy Pink, for a pop of colour that leaves my lips looking juicy. I especially love the comfort of this non-sticky formula that glides on the lips, giving an ultra-glossy finish.

And that’s it! My ultra-quick guide for busy moms, like me, who want to look presentable without taking up too much time in the mornings. The best part? All these products are budget-friendly too! What are some of your time-saving beauty tips, for moms?

I am the creator behind By Megan Kelly, mom of two boys, named Axl (4-years old) and Eli (1-year old), and local business owner of Dr. Design. I live on copious amounts of coffee, spend my free time listening to podcasts while I garden or journal, and really enjoy baking fresh treats for my family. On the weekends, you’ll likely find me exploring our local city, looking for new family-friendly places for our kids, but that’s only if I am not already shouting at the soccer on TV. I support Tottenham and enjoy pretending to know what  I am doing in the Fantasy League, but really I am just in it for the laughs. I can be bribed with chocolate and will never admit to having too much makeup – although, I probably do.

Hah! I could stand to take a few pages from your book! Luckily for this work from home mom, my husband does the morning school run as it’s on his way to work anyway (leaving me to finish my coffee in bed!) I do the afternoon run, and the best I manage some days is to switch out my tracksuit pants for jeans… This could be the reason for the side eye I sometimes get from other moms, hey? Definitely going to look up this concealer, as the grey bags under my eyes are particularly horrendous at the moment. Thanks for the recommendations!
