My Dermalogica Must-Haves

It’s been about 3 years since I was first introduced to Dermalogica and even though I consistently try new skincare, there are a few products of theirs that I keep coming back to. Today, I thought I’d share a bit about my Dermalogica journey and which of their products I can’t stop recommending.

Face Mapping

Something that few people seem to know, is that Dermalogica offers a free face mapping service at all of their concept stores. It’s one of the very first steps I took to understanding my skin and something I urge everyone to try, especially if you are struggling to find the right combination of products for your skin. A face mapping session is a 15-minute consultation where they look at your skin under a light and assess what the 14 different zones of your skin needs. Afterwards, they give you a copy of your face mapping, where they highlight any challenges your skin might be facing, and which products of theirs they recommend trying, and as a bonus, you get free samples to try too!

My face mapping session was a complete game changer and really helped me understand what my skin needed. In fact, I always thought I had combination and acne prone skin, meanwhile, the acne treatments I was religiously using was actually stripping my skin of moisture, resulting in really dehydrated skin, so what I need the most was a hydrating regimen for plumper looking skin.

Face mapping aside, these are some of the products that were recommended and some that I have stumbled upon on my own, which I really love!Dermalogica precleanse-balm - By Megan Kelly

Pre-Cleanse Balm

Besides teaching me all about what my skin really needs, Dermalogica also taught me that skincare begins at step 0; The Pre-Cleanse. I used to swear by the Dermalogica Pre-Cleanse Oil, but since its launch, the Pre-Cleanse Balm quickly grabbed the top spot as a new favourite. The balm transforms into an oil as you massage it across your face, melting away impurities. Once activated with water, the oil emulsifies and helps break down excess oils, waterproof makeup and product buildup caused from products like sun care. Included, is a silicone cleansing mitt which gives a gentle massage and leaves skin looking plump, healthy and clean. You can read my full review over here.

Dermalogica daily-resurfacer - By Megan Kelly

Daily Resurfacer

This is probably my most-loved product from Dermalogica and one that is sorely underrated by the beauty community! The Daily Resurfacer is a leave-on exfoliating treatment which works to brighten and tone your skin. Each daily dose is an individually wrapped cotton piece, generously soaked in the treatment, which slips over your fingertip to easily wipe across your face. The dose contains one application of alpha and beta hydroxy acids and enzymes to smooth the skin. What makes this treatment so special is that it is suitable for all skin types and doesn’t cause any dryness or redness. My dehydrated skin especially loves the soothing Rooibos, Green Tea and Hyaluronic Acid which work together to help retain moisture.

Dermalogica daily-superfoliant-hero - By Megan Kelly

Daily Superfoliant

This particular product needs no introduction and shouldn’t come as a surprise. In fact, it has a dedicated review over here. Like the ever-popular Microfoliant, the Daily Superfoliant is a super-charged version that does all that and more, delivering smooth skin while fighting biochemical and environmental triggers (pollution) which are known to accelerate the signs of aging. Just like it’s little sister, the Superfoliant activates upon contact with water, which is then massaged across your face to gently and effectively remove product-build up and absorb environmental toxins from deep within the pores. The exfoliant contains Activated Charcoal which purifies the skin, while Niacinamide, Red Algae and Tara Fruit Extract help guard against the damaging effects of pollution

Dermalogica sound_sleep_cocoon - By Megan Kelly

Sound Sleep Cocoon

New to their range and my routine, the Sound Sleep Cocoon quickly clawed its way to the top and has become one of my must-have skincare items. I don’t know how it does it, but it literally transforms my skin overnight from dull and dry, to supple, bright and glowy. The only reasonable conclusion is that it’s some sort of voodoo magic! Jokes aside, this stuff has completely changed my skin and seemingly overnight. In fact, I stopped using it to see if I was just imagining it and after a week, noticed my skin was looking dull again, but as soon as I went back to using the Sound Sleep Cocoon before bed, my skin bounced back. So, what is this magic? The gel-cream which can be used on its own or layered with your preferred moisturizer works by optimizing skin recovery that takes place during the night. Tamarind seed extract works by creating a nourishing cocoon for softer, more hydrated skin while encapsulated, motion-activated French-lavender essential oil (with Sandalwood and Patchouli) work all night to promote deep, restful sleep for healthier-looking skin by morning. Honestly, this is one of the most effective treatments I have tried and it’s certainly a repurchase for me.

I have a lengthy list of Dermalogica recommendations, but these are my utmost favourites – the ones that I keep going back for and can’t get enough of. Have you tried Dermalogica, if so, which are some of your favourites?
