09 May Support a Dream, Drink Coffee, and Rock Slippers!
Friday is SLIPPER DAY! A special time of the year where South Africans join forces with Wimpy to support the incredible work done by Reach for a Dream. Last year Wimpy managed to raise R1.4 million from the sales of Slipper Day bracelets in store, while also giving away 33 276 cups of free Wimpy Coffee to all who came through with their wristbands and slippers. This year, they’re on a mission to top that, but need your help!
To show your support, simply head to your nearest Wimpy and buy a Slipper Day wristband for R10, which can be redeemed for a free Famous Wimpy Coffee on May 11, and the right to rock your slippers all day long, even to work!
Reach for a Dream remains one of South Africa’s most loved charities, as the organisation makes dreams come true for children suffering from serious, often terminal, illnesses. Reach for a Dream has a special place in South African hearts because it gives children the gift of fun and adventure – joyful parts of life they are often denied due to their illness. Through Reach for a Dream, hundreds of South African kids have been able to enjoy the simple things many of us take for granted, like birthday parties. They are also often given the chance to explore the extraordinary, by swimming with dolphins or meeting their lifelong heroes.
So, what are you waiting for? Reach for a Dream needs your support, and Slipper Day wristbands are already on sale at your nearest Wimpy and for just R10 you can change a young life! So guys, be lekker – support a dream, drink some coffee and rock those slippers this Friday!
If you’ve already bought your wristband, I thought I would share some cool slippers that you might love – which ones will you dare to wear?
I am the blogger behind By Megan Kelly, mom of two boys, named Axl (5-years old) and Eli (1-year old), and local business owner of Dr. Design. I live on copious amounts of coffee, work as a community manager and digital marketer, and spend my free time listening to podcasts and bible journalling. I also enjoy baking fresh treats for my family, exploring our local city, and looking for new family-friendly places for our kids to enjoy. On the weekends, you’ll likely find me shouting at the soccer and showing my support for Tottenham, while pretending to know what I am doing in the Fantasy League. I can be bribed with chocolate and will never admit to having too much makeup – although, I probably do.
