Vichy’s ProEVEN Range

Vichy ProEVEN range - By Megan KellyAs I am sure you probably know, pregnancy can cause havoc to your body, especially your skin due to all the hormones pumping through your body.  One of the commonly experienced changes is the appearance of dark spots on your face, caused by the increase of pigmentation. They mostly appear on your forehead and cheeks, but in my case even showed up on my nose.

Admittedly, it hasn’t really bothered me – I know that for a lot of women, dark spots can make them self-conscious but my spots are still light and positioned in a way that it sort of looks like I just have a tanned nose. However, with the warmer months upon us, I need to do what I can to lighten my dark spots, as exposure to the sun is just going to make them appear darker.

I used my new dark spots as an opportunity to trial Vichy’s Pro-Even range of skincare which works to reduce dark spots, for even-looking skin from day 1! The range includes a Brightening Cleansing Foam (R230), a Daily Dark Spot Corrector (R409) and a night cream (R450) which I trialled together, for the best results.

PROEVEN Brightening Cleansing Foam - By Megan KellyThe Vichy ProEVEN Brightening Cleansing Foam is probably my favourite product from the ProEVEN range and definitely one that I will continue using. The formula is gentle and suitable for all skin types. While still being quite affordable this tube is bound to last ages, as you need less than a pea-size of the product for an effective wash. I have been using the range for over a month now and am yet to make a dent in the tube!

To use, I start by squeezing a dollop of the gel-like cleanser in my hand, adding a little water before gently mixing it into a lather and applying the foam to my face, to cleanse the skin. The cleanser is super gentle and works well at removing dirt, after a long day. It also smells divine – it’s sort of a sweet scent! The formula’s ingredients include Ceramide Bright, LHA and vitamin C, and is designed to non-abrasively exfoliate the skin, removing dead skin cells to reveal brighter, even looking skin and helping to eliminate dark spots.

What I liked about this cleanser is how hydrating, I found the formula to be. I have really dry skin, so am always hesitant about trying a new cleanser, as they usually make my skin feel tight, resulting in me slathering my face with every moisturizer that I have. But with Vichy’s ProEVEN Brightening Cleansing Foam, I found the opposite to be true – the formula didn’t dry out my skin and left it feeling comfortable.

PROEVEN Advanced Daily Dark Spot Corrector - By Megan KellyVichy’s ProEVEN Daily Dark Spot Corrector offers triple efficacy, as it works to reduce the look of dark spots, brightens your skin tone and promises long-lasting results with continuous use. The texture of the formula is quite a bit similar to the Clarins’ Brightening Plus moisturizer, only Vichy’s formula proves to be more hydrating. For exceptionally dry skin, like my own, you can pair the ProEVEN Daily Dark Spot Corrector with your usual moisturizer.

The Daily Dark Spot Corrector has a very lightweight texture that absorbs quickly, leaving the skin feeling supple and hydrated. At first, I found it to be quite runny, but I have gotten used to it and like how well it applies. You may notice that by looking closely, you can sort of see the exfoliating LHA – it’s almost unnoticeable but there’s a fine texture to it – this works similarly to the foam cleanser and removes dark dead cells that are loaded with melanin to reveal radiant looking skin. With consistent use, Vichy’s ProEVEN Daily Dark Spot Corrector is said to refine your skin’s texture in just 4 weeks and helps reduce the look of dark spots in 8 weeks.

PROEVEN Night Overnight Concentrate - By Megan KellyVichy’s ProEVEN Night Cream packs a strong scent which is most likely due to the high concentrate of LHA ( 3 times more than the day formula), Ceramide Bright and Vitamin C. Applying a thick layer of this before bed, allows for the formula to work into your skin during the cells’ natural skin regeneration process, so that when you wake, you can expect skin that feels smoother and looks brighter.

At first, the scent of the Vichy ProEVEN Night cream put me off, but it wears off after application and once you have seen the results on your first morning, you won’t be bothered! Like the day cream, the ProEVEN Night absorbs quickly into the skin, even with its jelly-like formula. Again, you really don’t need much of the cream, for it to cover your face, so I feel that the price tag for the ProEVEN range is quite fair, as these products could quite easily last 2-4 months.

Overall, the range proved to be quite gentle on my skin, despite my recurring hormonal breakouts. I usually struggle with the healing process especially after a stubborn spot or two but impressively found that the ProEVEN range helped to retexturize my skin and reduced the healing time quite significantly.

While I do still have some pigmentation on my cheek and nose, which appeared during my pregnancy, I have definitely noticed that it has lightened quite a bit. However, the scarring caused from breakouts over the years has improved the most – some stubborn scars have almost completely disappeared! It’s been just over a month of using the Vichy ProEVEN range and I am blown away by how well it worked to reduce scars that I had been struggling with for years. After only a week of using the range, I started getting compliments from friends and family, who noticed how glowy my skin was looking – and believe me, when you’ve just had a baby, you’ll take any compliment you can get!

You can shop the Vichy ProEVEN range online from one of Vichy’s e-retailer partners. The range retails for: ProEVEN Brightening Cleansing Foam – R230, ProEVEN Daily Dark Spot Corrector – R409, and ProEVEN night cream (R450).
