1. NUK First Choice and Crate Starter Pack
After having Axl, I always had bottles scattered around the kitchen, until I discovered that NUK had these handy starter packs which included a crate. Even though we are long since done with bottles, we still use our crates on the daily basis for organizing everything from sauces, spices, and toiletries. With Eli arriving soon, I have an excuse to pull out all my crates again, and put them to good use storing our NUK products. The crate has enough space to store 6 of their bottles and the kit includes:
- 2 NUK FIRST CHOICE 300ml Bottles
- 2 NUK FIRST CHOICE 150ml Bottles
- 2 NUK FIRST CHOICE Silicone Spare Teats
- 1 NUK Soother
- 1 NUK 2-in-1 Bottle & Teat Brush
2. Sophie la girafe Teether
Sophie is the world’s bestselling teether, trusted by moms and celebrities everywhere, and while teething may be months away, your bestie will be grateful that you chose to gift her with a Sophie la girafe teether, especially when her baby does begin teething.
Sophie la girafe is one of the safest toys for your baby to bite and chew on, and is made with 100% natural rubber and food-grade paint. Her flexible and soft design means that your baby can easily grasp, squeeze and chew her, while exploring all five senses. The bumps on Sophie’s head and legs help soothe sore gums, while the dark contrasting spots all over her body provides visual stimulation, and her squeaker keeps your baby amused and helps them understand the link between cause and effect.
3. Sophie la girafe Musical Box
Sophie la girafe will soon be your baby’s favourite toy, so why not soothe and calm your baby with the beautiful Sophie la girafe musical box, too. The well-designed mobile toy can be played with on its own, or can easily attach to your pram, car seat, high chair, play mat or changing mat. Each dangling toy provides a new texture or sound for your baby to discover and enjoy; Kiwi the bird plays a calming melody when pulled, the star makes the sound of paper being scrunched up, and the rattling ring has colourful beads that knock together. Sophie la girafe’s Musical Box is a great toy that is soft, safe, portable, easy to use, and works as a great distraction for your baby while you’re driving, shopping or want to create a calm and familiar environment for them to sleep.

7. Nuby Medical Kit
This should be at the top of every list – with Axl, I had completely forgotten to buy a medical kit and only realized at about 2am one night while he screamed from a blocked nose, so believe me when I say that this is a GREAT baby shower gift.

8. Baby Sense Baby Sling
This was very easily the most used product with my first son, which is probably why I made sure that I have one with Eli, too. As a new mom, I completely forgot that I had a second hand, I was always asking my husband to cut up my food or tie up my hair, while I rocked the baby back to sleep, or breastfed, until I discovered the wonders of the Baby Sense Sling.
Baby wearing promotes bonding with your baby, helps improve the production of breastmilk and keeps your baby close by in a warm, womb-like environment, where they can hear the familiar sound of your heartbeat. Best of all? You are free to cut up your own food! The Baby Sense sling is a versatile design that can be used from the time your baby is born, right up until they’re toddlers. The sling offers five different carrying positions, with straps that can easily be adjusted for safe use by mom, dad and care givers.

10. Korbell Nappy Bin
It may seem odd buying someone a bin, for their baby shower but believe me, by the first week into parenthood, they’ll be sending you messages of thanks! Babies poop… a lot, and you’ll be surprised by just how quickly they can stink up a nursery.
The Korbell Nappy Bin is the solution to odour-free nappy disposal, thanks to its unique triple-sealing system. Parents don’t even have to worry about touching the bin as you can simply use the foot pedal to open the lid and drop in the nappy, which then falls into the biodegradable disposable bags.
The Korbell system stores more nappies than most disposal units on the market, so you don’t have to empty the bin as frequently. Changing the refill cartridges is really simple, and the best part is that you don’t ever have to worry about wasting the disposable bags, as you have the freedom to cut and tie the bag whenever you’re ready to empty the system. The Korbell system easily converts into a convenient bathroom bin, when your baby has outgrown their nappies, making this one of those things you’ll always use.
11. Lulla Doll
The Lulla Doll is very quickly becoming a popular sleep companion for preemies, babies and even toddlers. Babies wake at the feeling of being put in their cot or pram, so it can be helpful having a sleep companion that provides comfort and encourages self-soothing.
The Lulla Doll imitates closeness, with its soft feel of natural cotton and soothing sounds. When you press her chest, Lulla plays a real-life recording of the breathing and heartbeat of a mother, for up to 8 hours. The outer layer of Lulla is made from soft natural cotton, which absorbs the scent of mom, dad or a caregiver, providing comfort while baby rests. Lulla’s unique design is based on research that shows how closeness helps to improve sleep, well-being, and safety for children, thereby aiding parents and their own pursuit of sleep.
12. Sleepyhead Pod
The Sleepyhead provides versatility, functionality and convenience to new parents, as babies can enjoy sleeping, lounging, nappy changes and playing in their pod, without the restraint of buckles and the over stimulation of too many bells and whistles.
The pod is designed to be lightweight so that parents can easily move the Sleepyhead from room to room, or even take it along when traveling. The materials used are hypoallergenic and the pods are made with hygienic fabrics that include air-permeability. The pod is designed to imitate the womb, to help soothe and comfort your baby with the feeling of a safe and secure sleeping environment.
