04 Dec [#365BeautyTips] Clarins Sample Test
The forty-seventh week of #365BeautyTips has come to an end and as promised, I have put together a round-up post which puts all the beauty tips, shared this week, in one place. The idea is to share any extra information and answer the questions that you may have asked on my social media posts. Remember that if you want to stay up to date with my 365 days of beauty challenge, then follow me on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.
THIS WEEK’S THEME IS…
A few weeks ago, Clarins contacted me and asked if they could send me some samples of their products. I haven’t really delved into the French brand’s makeup section, other than a few liquid pens (which were absolutely amazing) but I am also huge fan of their skincare, so was like “hell yeah!” to trialing some more of their products. A lot of these products are absolutely perfect for summer, the quality is phenomenal and quite honestly, I am sold on the brand. I MUST GET MORE (please Santa?) P.S. I didn’t include makeup looks but will be featuring some of my creations later this week on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.

You’ve probably heard me hammering on about cream eyeshadows more than once, but I will never quite understand why more people don’t gush about them as much as I do. Clarins Cream Eyeshadows are waterproof, making them a handbag essential for summer, especially without having to worry about your face melting off and allowing you to really enjoy the versatility that cream shadows have to offer. Whether you like the simplicity of using your fingertips to add just a smidge of colour or prefer dressing it up by adding eyeshadows to it, these metalic finishes should be at the top of your summer-want list. The highly pigmented formula is easy to use, applies and dries so quickly that it doesn’t allow for creasing and stays put all day long. I am so happy to add these to my make-up bag and just in time for pool parties! I am an even bigger fan of the colour options included.

Sticking with the theme of summer makeup, the Clarins Fix Makeup is another handbag essential for the summer time. The refreshing spray helps hydrate and soothe skin while setting makeup to last longer, despite the humidity of summer. I have never really used makeup setting sprays and at first wasn’t sure if I liked spraying stuff on my face right after spending so long doing my makeup, but I have come to appreciate the Clarins Fix Makeup Spray as it leaves my skin looking fresh and dewy while improving the longevity of my makeup.

I have finally started recognizing what I like in a mascara and what I don’t. Clarins ticked off all the boxes in the like department, by offering a plastic wand that is flexible to use, has good grip and tiny bristles to ensure that the quick-drying coat grabs onto every lash. I hate having to wait ages for a formula to dry on my lashes because 9 times out of 10, I will sneeze and there goes my gorgeous cat-eye. Also, I love that Clarins kept the packaging simple and classy with the elegant gold packaging, but kept it matte so that you don’t have those annoying fingerprints everywhere.

Okay but no, seriously, why haven’t you already insisted that I start using lip oils? Clarins Instant Light Lip Comfort Oils are great for restoring moisture to the lips while adding a faint tint. I do not like glosses, in general, and will always opt for a mattte gloss because who want’s sticky lips? But unlike gloss, these lip oils absorb into the skin, leaving lips feeling nourished. I love that when I apply the oil, it doesn’t feel gross (I am clearly a texture sort of person) but instead is light on the lips, gives a touch of juicy colour and does wonders for treating your lips.

I have only been rocking liquid eyeliner since high-school, so I sort of consider myself a type of expert on trialing new liquid eyeliner pens. Clarins included the 3-Dot Liner which immediately grabbed my attention with its unique 3-point tip which offers precision like no other. The formula is highly pigmented, smooth to apply, and I am pretty sure that even thetypical person who may be liquid-eyeliner-challenged would be able to get a good cat-eye out of this beaut. Best of all, the formula lasts. I have used Clarins Liquid Eyeliner pens (the non-felt tip ones) before and can say that it is easily the longest lasting eyeliner I have discovered to date, in addition to being one of the only liquid eyeliners that haven’t dried up on me before I could get my money’s worth. That being said, I am keen to see how long this one lasts.

The Clarins Double Fix Mascara is a waterproof topcoat for lashes and works as a very good brow gel. While I haven’t tested to see how great the topcoat works at making non-waterproof mascaras waterproof, I can say that it helps seal mascaras that are prone to running or smudging. I have a particularly bad mascara that I am yet to master, but if I give the mascara a few minutes to dry and then top it off with the Clarins Double Fix, I find I have zero problems! I also love the smallness of the bristles which make for quick and accurate styling of brows.

Easily the product I was most excited about to receive is the 2016 Limited Edition Clarins bronzer and blusher. I first saw the Clarins Bronzer in a giveaway hosted by Dave Lackie months ago and let me just say, it is even prettier in person. The different colour variants give you room to play with the intensity of your bronzer and the blendability (is that even a word? If not, I feel all makeup lovers have rejoiced at its creation!) is velvety-smooth, wearable and very far from that typical muddy look that bronzers are known for. The centre shades make for a great blush and all the shade work to instantly brighten skin, giving you a naturally glowy sun-kissed look. 100/10, this is one of my favourite products and easily at the top of my 2016 most liked products.
Clarins also knocked it out the park with their durable packaging that houses the every-gorgeous bronzer, which just screams summer. Honestly, this is my golden nugget, almost too pretty to use but too good not to.
And that is a wrap on the last 7 days. Whoop-Whoop! Remember that I love any feedback – what have you enjoyed seeing, what would you like to see more of and perhaps if you have any suggestions, questions or products you would like me to chat more about. I really enjoyed the themed days – what themes would you like to see next?
