What I am…

I have decided to start a new thing on my blog, perhaps it’ll become a regular series, called “What I am…” Let me know if you like it? Basically, between all the news, launches and reviews – I’d like to come back to making this blog my own. And what better way, than sharing a little more about me!

If you haven’t started watching Empire yet, get on it! We watched the last episode on Friday and WOW! I don’t want to give too much away because it’s just so fantastic but… Darren and I get chills every time they sing, and the drama… so much drama. Just as a little FYI, they even removed the ad-breaks in the US, as they didn’t want to take suspense away from the show. There are only 12 episodes in the first season, which makes me sad – but each and every episode is freakin amaze!

Mindy Kaling is every bit my hero, as Tina Fey is hers and someone should tell her that Beyonce would never appreciate her friendship like I would. I am loving her book – if you’ve watched Project Mindy, you’d probably end up reading this book in her voice, too, which makes it all the more enjoyable. Seriously, if you haven’t watched her show, or read her book – you should probably step away from the PC and do so right away. Mindy Kaling is amazeballs!

Listening to…

Something you probably didn’t know about me is that I love pop music but not nearly as much as I love punk. Darren is into heavier music and when we met, the car radio was a constant fight between us. I had never enjoyed screaming-angry music, but Darren found compromise: Punk goes Pop. And now music like this makes my heart happy. D sent this song over, this morning and I am looving it. Especially the pretty man-voice.

Not my finest. I feel bombarded by a lot of things and kind of just want to log-out of life, just for like a weekend or so. My dad, Luis, is moving to Cape Town with my sister, Gabi. And it sucks. I know that it sounds selfish but… everyone is allowed to move, except my dad. He is the rooted one, the one who never leaves and is always there for you to return to. He restores comfort when things go horribly wrong, and he has always just been there. I kind of feel like I took advantage of that and didn’t show him how much I truly appreciate having him, and in 2 months time, he is gone. Sure, it isn’t far – but still, I can’t just call him and say, I am popping in for coffee, or I have had a crap week, let’s have poitjie and by let’s have a poitjie, I mean… you make the best freakin’ poitjie because that’s the sort of comfort I need right now. Besides that, I am just generally feeling overwhelmed. I don’t think there are enough hours in a day to get things done and knowing that I have soo much to do, just demotivates me. But tomorrow, I have someone in to help me spring clean the house, which will make me feel good and I can tackle one task at a time, from there.

I have recently been focusing on skincare and been trying some fabulous goodies from Nip+Fab. I also tried waxing my own brows, for the first time from Veet and have been loving HEAN cosmetics, which will be featured in a review, later this week.

Things have been hectic at work! We launched our new company in February and have been head-deep, since. I am finally about to sign my first sale (woo-hoo!). On Friday, I was invited to speak at my old high-school, it was something which held such a special place in my heart, and I truly loved every minute of chatting to the matrics about what I do. Over the weekend, Darren’s brother came to visit from Mossel Bay, the last time we saw them, I was 1 week away from giving birth. The cousins finally had a chance to meet and I gave myself a pat on the back, when I realized how balance my kid is, and that he doesn’t suck at social interaction, the way that I do.
