Dermalogica has always been at the forefront of offering new and innovative skin care solutions, so when they started hinting at a new launch coming this May, I was all ears to hear what they’d be offering this time, following their earlier launches of the Daily Superfoliant and Age Reversal Eye Complex.
In case you missed it, the big announcement was the launch of their new Stress Positive Eye Lift which sort of works as a 2-in-1 eye treatment that can be used for a quick boost when needed, or daily to address chronic eye fatigue.
Stress can be good?
So, you’re probably wondering, what good is ANOTHER eye cream? Well, as you know by now, there has been a lot of supporting research that stress can wreak havoc on our bodies, often resulting in break outs, dull skin, dehydration, tired eyes, and dark circles. But recent studies have also shown that stress can have a positive effect on our bodies too, and while this may sound crazy, I am known to work best under stressful situations and tend to be my most productive when I have a looming deadline.
If this sounds familiar, then you have experienced what is now known as, “Eustress.” Eustress is a positive type of stress which can motivate us to try something new, work harder, save lives, and love strongly. In other words, stress can be a positive force in our lives, as it helps us reach new limits by focusing our energy, and by having a positive reaction to stress, we can use it to help challenge and motivate our personal growth. It is believed that by changing our outlook on stress, we can help improve our state of mind which may even increase our skin’s recovery.
Dermalogica used these findings to develop their newest product, the Stress Positive Eye Lift treatment, which is a fast acting product that aims to visibly energize your eye area to reduce the signs of stress. The combination of the cooling gel and unique applicator work together to help minimize the appearance of puffiness and dark circles, increases your skin’s luminosity, and helps to lift and firm the eye area.
What are the key ingredients and what do they do?
As always, Dermalogica’s products are formulated without any artificial colorants or fragrances. The Stress Positive Eye Lift treatment features; Wild Indigo Seed to help brighten and visibly reduce under-eye circles, Sea Water Extract and Arctic Algae to counter the look of puffiness, Fermented Yeast and a unique Hyaluronic Acid blend which leaves skin feeling firmer and helps generate a lifting effect, and Bioactive Diglucosyl Gallic Acid that works with your skin’s natural biome to help brighten and energise the eye area.
Dermalogica took it one step further and even formulated an exclusive way of using their new product, called the ‘Dermalogica Eye Lift DIY’, which helps boost the effectiveness of the Positive Eye Lift, by depuffing and firming the area, with a 3-step technique.
What did I think?
I have been using the Positive Eye Lift treatment for the last two weeks, as a boost when needs be, followed by my usual Dermalogica eye cream. I personally found the formula to be a good kick that helps alleviate the typical dark circles found under my eyes, following a stressful night at work. I also really liked the cooling sensation that the gel provides which is bettered with the use of their new silver-tipped applicator that helps to soothe and massage the area. On a few occasions, I even popped my Positive Stress Eye Lift in the fridge for a few minutes, especially on hotter days, as the coolness of the applicator really worked to depuff the eye area. In a weird way, I found the 3-step massage technique relaxing on its own and a sort of comforting way to start my day. While I don’t suffer from chronic eye fatigue, I found that using the treatment whenever I needed that extra boost of care, really helped to revitalize my eye area
The all new Dermalogica Stress Positive Eye Lift treatment is offered in a 25ml tube with a suggested retail price of R1 210. It will be available from the 1st of May, at authorized Dermalogica stockists and www.dermalogica.co.za
