01 May My Pamper Routine
Throughout the week, I keep my routine pretty simple but Sundays are the day that I end up taking some time off to pamper myself. I love starting the week feeling relaxed and with baby Eli’s arrival approaching very quickly, I have been working extra hours to ensure that everything is taken care of in time for his birth which means I truly do appreciate my Sunday routine. So, today I thought that I’d share 4 products that make my pampering, just that much better!
Little Eskimo Ice Mask
A few weeks ago, I came across Little Eskimo’s Ice Masks, which have been a lifesaver in this heat! Cold therapy has been around for hundreds of years, but I was yet to find a brand who created nifty reusable ice masks that could be hygienically stored in the fridge, to use whenever I needed. Little Eskimo offers two variants of their ice masks; the traditional eye-mask and the full face-mask.
The traditional eye-mask is the perfect solution for when your eyes are feeling puffy, and you need a quick pick me up. I have been a long-time fan of these sorts of eye-masks and always have one in the fridge, to help ease puffiness and redness which usually results from working late, several nights in a row. I also recommend having one for whenever you travel, pop them in the fridge when you arrive, wait 20 minutes before taking some time to unwind and relax with your eye-mask.
The full face-mask has quickly become high on my list of favourites, and despite making me look like a crazy warrior, I truly love the benefits that it offers. Since including the full-face mask into my weekly routine, I have noticed that my usually enlarged pores have shrunk significantly, my skin appears clearer and despite being 33 weeks pregnant during the hottest summer, my face isn’t nearly as red or swollen. An unexpected use for the full-face mask is easing migraines caused by the heat or lack of sleep. My sister-in-law suffers from chronic migraines and always uses ice-therapy to help ease them, so when a migraine unexpectedly crept up on me, I was so grateful to find relief from using my full-face ice-mask.
Each mask conveniently comes with a hygienic bag to store in the fridge, so that you don’t have to worry about contamination. The eye-mask retails for R95 and the full-face mask retails for R185, or get them both for R269 from Little Eskimo.
Oh-Lief! Natural Grapefruit & Sweet Orange Body Wash
You may already know this, but I have been stocking up on some of my favourite organic baby products from Oh-Lief!, who is local and prides itself on an organic and cruelty-free approach. They also offer an incredible range of body products that I have been working my way through, and with winter around the corner, I have been loving the nourishing properties of their Natural Grapefruit & Sweet Orange Body Wash.
As with all of their products, the body wash is made with 100% natural and certified organic ingredients and is gentle on the skin. The unique blend of oils makes for an uplifting and energizing body wash, perfect for kick starting your winter mornings. Rumour has it, that it is also great for easing anxiety and even provides anti-aging properties and while there’s no concrete proof to supporting these claims, the body wash is a great nourishing formula that leaves skin feeling silky smooth and hydrated, even during the transitional seasons. I personally love the fresh citrusy scent which seems to ease away the stress of a long day.
The Natural Grapefruit and Sweet Orange Body Wash retails for R150 from Oh-Lief online.
Dermalogica Skin Hydrating Masque
Since changing my skin routine to a more hydrating regime, I have seen the greatest overall improvement in the texture and look of my skin. I believe a lot of the change is thanks to the Dermalogica Skin Hydrating Masque, which I spoke about in a recent Instagram video.
The masque helps to restore suppleness by providing increased hydration, which works to improve stressed and dry skin. As always Dermalogica only uses the finest ingredients, which includes Hyaluronic Acid to trap in the moisture, ensuring lasting results. The refreshing masque also includes lycopene-rich Tomato Seed lipids which help restore your skin’s protective barrier for healthier looking skin.
I have been using the Dermalogica Skin Hydrating Masque 1-2 times per week or whenever my skin needs a little pick me up, for the last 3 months. I love the creamy yet light texture of the masque, and especially like how soft my skin feels right after using it. I feel like this is a winter must-have to combat dry, flaky skin and think it would be especially handy if you plan on travelling anytime soon and want an in-flight masque that doesn’t look silly, but still leaves your skin feeling soft and hydrated.
The Dermalogica Skin Hydrating Masque retails for R710 and is available from Dermalogica online.
Pedi Relax Regenerative Foot Cream for Damaged Feet
I rarely ever use products on my feet, but months of living in sandals has left my feet looking worse for wear and when Pedi Relax landed on my desk – I thought why not! Guys, this foot cream is a game changer like no other! I usually despise the texture of creams, but was shocked to find how light-weight their formula is, and how quickly it absorbed. But don’t let that fool you into thinking that it isn’t doing its job of restoring your skin, because this bad boy provides the ultimate hydration to scaly, chapped and dry feet. (I shudder at typing those words, but for reals – this cream has combatted all of my worst feet-nightmares)
The intensive regenerative foot cream provides a soothing effect after a long day, while leaving absolutely no residue on the skin. Surprisingly, I have finally discovered a range of products, that actually makes me happy to rub cream on my feet. The Pedi Relax range of products are designed to include active ingredients to help soothe and heal the skin, while restoring moisture. The formula includes Lavender oil and Thyme essential oil which helps to prevent water loss and repair lipid layers.
