31 Jan Empties for January
As promised, I am splitting my Hits, Misses and Empties into 3 individual posts, so if you missed my earlier post on the hits of this month then be sure to catch up. Today, I am sharing my empties – if you’re not familiar with this sort of series, the reason that empty products have any significance in blogging is merely because as a beauty blogger, I tend to always be trialing new products so when it comes to actually finishing (and most times, repurchasing) a product, it means I REALLY loved it!
POND’s New Age Miracle
Over December, I noticed that my skin became exceptionally dry probably due to my preggy hormones. I had been sent the New Age Miracle range from POND’s a while back and loved it, so while I was busy picking up some milk and bread at Checkers, I popped on over to the toiletry aisle and chose the POND’s New Age Miracle Serum, Day, and Night Cream in hopes of combatting the dehydration that my skin had been experiencing.
Firstly, can we just take a moment to applaud POND’s for making their range readily available at your local Checkers? And at really affordable prices too – they are proof that skincare doesn’t have to cost an arm and leg.
Okay, so I know that the New Age Miracle range is technically an anti-aging regime, and being 23-years old doesn’t mean I exactly need an anti-aging skincare routine just yet. However, skincare brands combat aging by creating ultra-nourishing formulas which restores hydration – more hydration = plumper skin = less wrinkles. That being said, I figured it couldn’t hurt to opt for a range that’s all about restoring moisture.
The POND’s New Age Miracle Day cream serum is a silky-smooth texture, very similar to Maybelline’s Pore Eraser Primer. It absorbs into the skin and gives it a light mattifying feel, while restoring moisture and leaving skin feeling nourished. According to POND’s, this intensive and highly potent serum contains 20 times the concentration of their best AA actives, to dramatically boost the skin’s capacity for young cell regeneration.
Due to the intense dryness that I was experiencing, I followed up by using the Day or Night cream, depending on the time of day. Both formulas resembled to be much the same, and the texture can only be described as a decadent mousse that leaves skin looking and feeling plumper.
The POND’s New Age Miracle Day cream is also enriched with Vitamin C, Micro-collagen and SPF 15 for effective care and protection from sun damage. However, I would opt for an additional application of sunscreen that’s SPF 30 or stronger.
Although I have combination skin, I despise using a range that adds so much moisture that it leaves me feeling greasy. That’s why I love this range so much – it restores the moisture that I was clearly lacking but left my skin feeling rejuvenated and velvety smooth instead of oily. Needless to say, I had the confidence to go out without wearing any makeup and when I did opt for a full face of makeup, foundation applied like a dream!
POND’s Spot Clear
A few months ago, the POND’s Spot Clearing range took the beauty blogging world by storm, when POND’s offered an affordable solution to ever-changing skin, especially for teens. However, they didn’t realize just how great it’d be for a preggy mom who’s skin is just as hormonal!
The multi-action facial foam from POND’s boasts the ability to fight 10 spot and oil problems with a one-step solution, thanks to the combination of 4 powerful ingredients. Salicylic Acid helps to clear spots by removing bacteria, whilst their specially formulated Herbal Clay aids in controlling oil, and reducing redness and blemishes in order to restore your skin. The specially formulated scrub beads help to gently exfoliate, smooth out and reduce the appearance of dark spots whilst tightening the pores. Lastly, the Brightening Essence in POND’S complete solution Spot Clear helps reduce dullness and gives your skin a visibly brighter appearance.
The Spot Clearing Facial Foam comes in 3 different sizes that range from a travel-friendly size, right to their larger variant, which will most likely last a month or two. To use the foam, I apply a small amount on the palm of my hand and slowly add water with my fingertips, mixing the solution to form a foamy cleanser. The facial foam doesn’t dry out my skin and does an excellent job of clearing away stubborn blackheads. All in all, incredible value for your money and a simple regime to save stubborn skin.
Rimmel’s Provocalips in Kiss Fatale
If there ever was a range of lipsticks that I wouldn’t mind owning the entire collection, it’d be Rimmel’s Provocalips. Everything about this formula wins! It is light-weight, non-drying, long-lasting (like scrub it from my lips with baby oil, lasting), and so beautifully pigmented. I purchased the shade Kiss Fatale, which can only be described as the most wearable plum, that ever existed. Unlike other liquid lipsticks, this one doesn’t become patchy throughout the day and really and truly does last all day long. Needless to say, it is the first lipstick that I have actually finished completely – please sir, may I have some more?
Marc Anthony’s Grow Long Range
I have already spoken about this range from Marc Anthony, in my 2016 Favourites, so it should come as no surprise that I actually got around to finishing it. The range boasts 2 key ingredients; Ginseng and Caffeine, which work to stimulate the root for optimal growth and strengthens hair so that you aren’t just growing long hair, but strong hair too! I am still working through the leave-in treatment, which I spray on my roots after every wash, but absolutely adored and squeezed out every last drop of the shampoo and conditioner, which also happens to be free of nasties.
Me & Youth Multi-Use Setting Spray
I spoke about the Me and Youth Setting spray in a lengthened review recently, which covers the story behind the local brand’s recent rebranding and more about how to use the product. Clearly, I put the facial spray to very good use in December, resulting in it already being finished. But it’s definitely worth a repurchase.
In short, the Me and Youth Setting Spray is an uber versatile product which has 3 primary uses – primer, refiner and refresher, which just means that you can use the spray before and after makeup application, preparing the skin and then setting your makeup and again, throughout the day to keep your skin feeling and looking fresh. As outlined in my review, the main ingredients include rosewater, aloe vera extract, and cucumber extract – all ingredients that make for a refreshing, nourishing and mood-lifting spray.
And with that, we have finished the last drop of this month’s empties. Which product from this post are you keen to try and which products have you recently finished?
