28 Dec [#365BeautyTips] 2016 Favourites – Pt 2
The second-last #365BeautyTips has come to an end and as promised, I have put together a round-up post which puts all the beauty tips, shared this week, in one place. The idea is to share any extra information and answer the questions that you may have asked on my social media posts. Remember that if you want to stay up to date with my 365 days of beauty challenge, then follow me on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.
Last week, I shared a lot of my 2016 favourites but I never got around to sharing some of my favourite makeup finds. So, this week, I am dedicating the series to sharing some of my absolute favourite makeup products for 2016.
#365BEAUTYTIPS – DAY: 351
I have said it before and I will say it again, but 2016 was the year that I discovered my love for Revlon. I have tried what seems like every one of their foundations and am actually in the midst of putting together another Foundation Face-off, comparing their different formulas but let me just say, you can’t go wrong! Their range is convenient in the way that if you’re the shade Nude in one foundation, you’re a Nude in all of their foundations – yayee for simplifying shopping for foundation! Their formulas are light-weight yet impressively, they offer great coverage, and last long even with the humidity of December! I have always found that certain foundations, you almost need to discover the trick to applying it well, to avoid it clumping, peeling, flaking or oxidizing on your skin. But with Revlon’s range of foundations, I don’t seem to ever have that problem. I love the look and feel of my skin when I wear their foundations and feel that their slogan of #LoveIsOn is appropriately chosen, because with them – love is always truly on (my face)!
While we’re talking about foundations, a recent budget-friendly find that I was quite surprised and impressed by, is the new Essence Camouflage 2-in-1 Makeup and Concealer. As much as I love the brand, I have always struggled with their foundations so when I gave this one a go, I really didn’t have much of an expectation. However, it is an excellent everyday foundation – it has a very natural finish, covers blemishes well and lasts evenly on the skin. Best of all, it doesn’t make my skin oily or orange, so all in all, a very good product and an excellent pick for your everyday makeup bag.

Clarins 3-Dot Liner has only recently joined my beauty arsenal but it wasted no time in blowing my eyeliner-loving eyes away! The innovative triple tip design allows you to get right in and between the lash which makes it great for an everyday eyeliner. The long lasting, pigmented formula smoothly glides without any trouble, quickly drying to ensure no mess! I have also found that the slant design makes creating a flick super easy – honestly, I don’t quite know why this isn’t on everyone’s must-have list especially if you’re new or learning how to create the ever-complimentary flick. While on the topic of Clarins, I also fell head over heels for their 2016 limited edition Bronzer and Blush. The butter-like texture just melts on the face, giving it a velvety finish and adding the most gorgeous glowy warmth to the skin. Now that I have had some time with it, I have figured just how to get optimal use from it, by combining all the shades or zoning in on certain shades to add depth to my face. It is easily one of my favourite finds from the brand and I am so glad to own it – absolutely, phenomenal product.
#365BEAUTYTIPS – DAY: 354
For Christmas, last year, Darren bought me the Elizabeth Arden Blockbuster set. It was my first luxury purchase and it truly rocked my world! The eyeshadow palettes are exceptionally pigmented, soft and apply and blend so easily. Also, part of the kit was their All Gone Makeup Remover which I have featured on the blog before (more than once), it literally melts away any makeup, even stubborn waterproof eye and lip makeup. It’s sensitive on the skin, does the job and basically dissolves makeup with the greatest of ease – I love it!

While we’re on the Elizabeth Arden train, I thought I’d slip in the miracle 8-hour cream which is probably one of the most spoken about products from the brand. I have tried it in the past, but only sample sizes (in fact, it might have even been in the Sample Test), which worked well to get my bad skin in check, by repairing the skin and leaving it feeling nourished. However, for Christmas, I was gifted a full-size and I am going to go out and say right now that it is without a doubt an item I will repurchase over, and over again. It is such a versatile product – from dry heels, lips and skin, the cream creates a barrier protecting it, locking in moisture, restoring and repairing the skin. In addition, you can also use it under your foundation or over your blush to create that fresh dewy look. The 8-Hour Cream from Elizabeth Arden is most definitely, a beauty essential and worth all the hype.
#365BEAUTYTIPS – DAY: 356
It shouldn’t come as a surprise that this series features yet another Revlon product, in fact, I was teetering on including quite a few more. But with limited slots, I opted for my utmost favourites, which also happens to include their Ultra HD Matte liquid lipsticks. The colour payoff in these lipsticks is more than enough reason to write home about, the formula is non-drying so they sit comfortably on the lips, without feeling like cement but also not sitting like melted butter. They have a slight vanilla sort of scent which isn’t over the top (I judge lipsticks and their scents a little more harshly these days, with morning sickness and all). All in all, I just feel it’s a great product, beautifully package and definitely a range I’m keen to buy more of.
#365BEAUTYTIPS – DAY: 357
So, a funny thing happened! In the beginning of the year, I didn’t own a single perfume, but right now my collection is sitting at quite an embarrassing and obnoxious (but equally impressive) number of beautifully packaged and scented fragrances. It was the year that my perfume collection came to be! It’s tough to decide which fragrances I loved the most, so I thought I’d sum up a few off the top of my head.
Revlon’s Love is On
Revlon launched their own fragrance, earlier this year, for their Love is On campaign. The fragrance embodies the excitement and feeling of attraction and includes a citrusy blend of Italian lemon combined with the intoxicating scent of sweet berries. The brand packaged the fragrance in an appropriate 50ml heart-shaped flacon. While the blend is simple in comparison to others, it is a wearable and feminine perfume that balances sweet and tangy almost creating the picture of “opposites attract”.
Britney Spears’ Private Show
A more recent addition to my collection (and one that you can win for yourself, over here) is the new launch from Britney Spears. Besides being the queen of pop, she’s also gained quite the reputation for her very impressive range of perfumes. Let’s be honest, we all wanted to own her very first perfume Curious! Her latest perfume is in fact her 20TH! (Yes, you read that correctly!) The new fragrance is a more mature scent, to her other lines (I sort of feel like I have grown up with her perfumes) but you can expect a perfect blend of floral – fruity – and even gourmand. The top notes open with sweet and fresh hints of clementine, nectarine and a surprising dose of coffee. The middle notes are where all the gourmands meet with white flowers of orange blossom and sambac jasmine. Right at the base, is a warm and sensual scent. Of course, the queen herself, ensured that her beautiful fragrance is packaged in the best way – a diamond-shaped bottle! After all, Diamonds (and Britney) is a girl’s best friend.
And that is a wrap on the last 7 days. Whoop-Whoop! Remember that I love any feedback – what have you enjoyed seeing, what would you like to see more of and perhaps if you have any suggestions, questions or products you would like me to chat more about. I really enjoyed the themed days – what themes would you like to see next?
