12 Dec [#365BeautyTips] Festive Makeup Essentials
The forty-eighth week of #365BeautyTips has come to an end and as promised, I have put together a round-up post which puts all the beauty tips, shared this week, in one place. The idea is to share any extra information and answer the questions that you may have asked on my social media posts. Remember that if you want to stay up to date with my 365 days of beauty challenge, then follow me on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.
THIS WEEK’S THEME IS…
#365BEAUTYTIPS – DAY: 337
If you love doing your own nails, then only the best polish will do. This year has really been a year for Revlon, and I have fallen deeper and deeper in love with their range. The Colorstay Gel Envy range is probably one of only two ranges that actually last on my nails and no matter what nailpolish I am using, I ALWAYS use their top coat. In fact, if I am not mistaken, I have two backup bottles of the stuff just waiting to see my pretty polished tips. Of course, every shade is perfect, but if you’re feeling particularly festive, be sure to keep an eye out for these 4. (most of which I own, definitely needing Double Down immediately, though – how gorg!) I absolutely adore the shade Queen of Hearts, all year round – it’s a beautiful rich red colour that won my heart!
#365BEAUTYTIPS – DAY: 338
If you’re not really wanting to DIY your nails (or like me, don’t have the time), but still want to share in the festive cheer, best you make your way to Clicks immediately, and stock up on these House of Holland special edition “House of Ho Ho Ho” nails by Elegant Touch. This is the second year running that I have bought a set for the festive season – I especially love their cut and shape, the convenience and of course, the cute designs available. I rarely wear stick-ons but when I do, I always opt for the range from Elegant Touch simply because their glue is the real deal. Forget about stick-ons that only last for a day or two, I have had a set of these babies last two weeks, that my own nails started outgrowing the nail ?.
#365BEAUTYTIPS – DAY: 339
Let’s be clear, Christmas is the perfect excuse to rock a red lip. In fact, I don’t need an excuse. I believe red is that one color that we all need in our makeup arsenal – sort of like a LBD or a good pair of fitted jeans. But Christmas is when I rock red and berry lips the most! At the moment, I am loving the Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lip in the shade Romance which a universal complimentary shade. However, if you’re looking for something warmer or richer, be sure to look at the other reds available in the range. I love the Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lip formula – it is buttery, smooth and dries to a velvety finish. Best of all, they have a wide variety of colours, meaning you can rock that bold matte lip all year long!
#365BEAUTYTIPS – DAY: 340
A Christmas look wouldn’t be complete without a flick of liquid eyeliner – am I right? I featured this gem last week, but have been using it ever since and can not stop raving about the formula! The Clarins 3-Dot eyeliner has revolutionized liquid felt-tip eyeliners as we know it, and has now made it easier than ever to achieve that flawless glam look. You know how there’s those viral videos of women trying to do their eyeliner and it just ends in a mess? They clearly haven’t met the 3-Dot liner. I don’t quite understand the science to the design, but the results speak for themselves and now you can really just do a thin quick flick, or a dramatic cat-eye with the smooth formula that sits for the full day!
#365BEAUTYTIPS – DAY: 341
This year, instead of going overly dramatic with my eye makeup, I have been complimenting the elegant eyeliner mentioned above, with a simple nude eye. A few months ago, I was chatting to Leigh about affordable eyeshadow palettes and she recommended Wet & Wild’s Comfort Zone Eyeshadow Palette. Ever since purchasing it, I can’t imagine why I hadn’t tried them sooner. Their shadows are soft, buttery and give a beautiful finish. I have been playing around with different colour combinations but think that it’s a great everyday palette, and if you’re in the mood to add a little Christmassy feel be sure to use the green included.
#365BEAUTYTIPS – DAY: 342
If you’re wanting the festive cheer to extend to your makeup brushes too, then why not opt for the creme de la creme of all brushes – The Real Techniques Bold Metals Collection. Of course, the range looks good all year long, it also looks incredibly good wrapped under the Christmas tree for me (hint-hint) but I mean, if you’re wanting a little glitzy finishing to your makeup routine, you can do nothing but amazing things with these as your tools. I finally got my first set of RT brushes earlier this year, and I have never looked back. I really love what they do, they’re soft, they apply makeup well, easy to clean and their handles are sturdy.
#365BEAUTYTIPS – DAY: 343
Last but certainly not least, it isn’t makeup related but certainly finishes the look – my Stylerush Styler. Whether you’re wanting beachy waves, tight curls or straight hair to rock out to some Christmas Carols, this is definitely the do it all styler for you! Remember that you can get R150 off yours when you use the promo code MEGAN, buy here. (FYI, this makes for a pretty great gift too!)
And that is a wrap on the last 7 days. Whoop-Whoop! Remember that I love any feedback – what have you enjoyed seeing, what would you like to see more of and perhaps if you have any suggestions, questions or products you would like me to chat more about. I really enjoyed the themed days – what themes would you like to see next?
