27 Sep Empties: Hair, Skin and Shower
Whoah, it has been awhile since I have done an “empties” blog post. For those of you new to the series, an “empties” blog post is dedicated to sharing all the products that I have finished, in the last month. I always believe that it says something about the product if I actually finish it. I tend to have a lot of products lined up for reviewing, so when a product grabs my attention and holds it long enough that I actually finish it, I’m like “Step out the way! You need this!”
I have quite a few products lined up, so grab a cuppa and get comfy.
Almay Eye Makeup Remover Pads
Almay is famously known for the brand that is dedicated to bringing you products that are great for even the most sensitive eyes. I never knew that about them until my mother-in-law showed me how her eyes become red and sensitive with any other eyeliner, other than Almay’s offering. Lately, I had really been struggling to find a simple solution to removing stubborn eye makeup, so this little gem arrived at the perfect time! Since discovering proper makeup remover, I have strayed away from wet wipes and pads. However, in the spirit of trying something new – I gave this a go and loved the convenience of it. I found that just holding a pad on each eye for a few seconds before gently rubbing the makeup off, does a good job of removing even the most stubborn makeup from your eyes. The soaked cotton pads are gentle, non-drying and best of all, they don’t make my eyes itchy, dry or sensitive. I love how soothing and cool the cotton pads are, they’re easy to use, quick and perfect for those nights that you can’t be asked to remove makeup, but know that you need to.
Uber Natural Beauty
Uber Natural Beauty is a brand that is not spoken about nearly enough. Uber Natural Beauty is an eco friendly, all-natural, cruelty free, gluten, paraben and sodium laureth sulfate free product range suitable for all skin types. All of their products, as you will see, are beautifully and naturally scented, have thick and luxurious consistencies and don’t think that I am going to write this feature without mentioning their awesome packaging at least twice. In fact, it was their packaging that piqued my interest in the brand at all. You see, there are lots of brands that pop up boasting natural ingredients, beautiful scents and, and, and. But I always believe that the clever use of colours, classic and simple packaging is what makes them stand out enough to give them a real go, right? Well, I am speaking for myself, anyway!
Uber Natural Beauty Face Mask
The UberFace Natural Beauty Face Mask might have been too thick to make it through the very pretty and sleek packaging of the pump bottle, but it didn’t stop me from scooping it out right to the very last drop. Sure, it wasn’t convenient and yes, the pump bottle would have been pretty impressive but the product is so gloriously thick and soothing, that the packaging faux pa was lost to me, especially with the fruity scent of Frankincense, Mandarin, Avocado and Magnolia Extract filling my entire bathroom with its amazing blend. This face mask is suitable for all skin types and is great for stressed skin, or helping soothe a breakout. While typing out this review, I decided to look up the rest of their range and was mighty impressed by the extensive range on offer – be sure to take a look at the UberFace range available over here.
Uber Natural Body Products
The last product that I ever expected to get excited over is shower gel or body lotion, but Uber Natural Beauty went ahead and proved me wrong. The UberBody range tantalises your senses and takes you on a fruity adventure with a range of products that leave your skin feeling nourished and your mind revitalised. What I love most about this duo is that the scent isn’t that annoyingly sweet-girly scent but is a nice balance that is suitable for both my hubby and I to use. However, if you are wanting to treat the hubs to his own range of (facial) goods, be sure to check out the UberMen range over here. The UberBody Shower Gel has been my favourite product from the range, with it’s rich blend of essential oils from Ju Hua (Chinese Chrysanthemum ) which are known to reduce swelling, inflammation and help soothe and nourish the skin and promote new cell growth. My love for the range has continued to spark my interest and I am definitely giving the UberBody Foaming Milk a try soon!
UberHair Intensive Hair Repair Treatment
I will say that in the beginning, this product’s scent almost put me off using it. ALMOST! I don’t know why, but I am just not that fond of it and find it more bitter than the rest of the products in the Uber Natural Beauty range which have all been very fruity. However, the results spoke for themselves and I ended up using every bit of the container which helped treat my dry scalp and left my hair feeling softer, thicker and more manageable. Besides the expected shampoo and conditioner in the UberHair range, I am really eager to try the Hair Straightening Kit and Colour Removal Kit as they’re not something you typically see in a haircare range.
Mio Skincare’s Liquid Yoga
If I am not mistaken, I have featured Mio Skincare’s Liquid Yoga twice before but I have just finished my bottle and let me say that it is very much worth the hype. Since starting gym, I have found refuge in their Liquid Yoga Bath Soak, especially on days that I push myself a little harder than I should. The blend of essential oils are very soothing to the senses and do incredible things for sore and tired muscles. The milky solution is definitely on my repurchase list and is a great gifting idea for just about anyone who is in need of a little time out.
Shield’s Motion Sense Deodorant
I don’t often chat about deodorant on the blog, I am not really sure why that is but I will admit that it has sort of made me think of sharing more of the insignificant things I opt for in life, like which toothbrush, tooth paste, razor, and deodorant that I am currently using. Anyhoo, I popped into my local Checkers and they didn’t have stock of my usual deodorant, so I chose Shield’s new Motion Sense variant which has been appearing all over blogs and media. I was VERY sceptical of a deodorant that claims to activate with the more that you move, but with the start of gym I figured that there wasn’t a better time to give it a proper go. Much to my surprise, the harder that I work, the better the smell of my deodorant. It’s sort of like little bubbles of fragrance that burst as you work harder at the gym. I loved this so much that I have already repurchased another 2. The scent is fresh and lasts a full day with no need for reapplication. This has surpassed my expectations of a deodorant – well done Shield!
Pantene Pro-V Haircare
A couple of months ago, Pantene and I had partnered up to share the new technology of the Pro-V range but the campaign landed up being paused until a later date. However, that didn’t stop me from giving the range a proper go and this time, it has blown me away. I have been using Pantene on and off for years and will always appreciate their salon quality products that are readily available at really good prices. Not to mention that I am a big fan of their mega-sized bottles that are perfect for the family bathroom! A few months ago, I gave their range a try but found that my skin reacted badly, so I hit pause. But this time around, my skin seemed to be unaffected so I kept on using the range right until the very last drop. Yep, I actually finished a mega-sized bottle! The Repair and Protect range smells incredible and the shampoo almost has a fruity undertone to it. As always, the conditioner is luxuriously thick and perfect for restoring moisture to dry, damaged hair. I have found that the reversed washing method works best and adds volume like no other. I have actually stopped straightening my hair since I started using this range because my hair has been so much more manageable than before and just looks (and feels) better! This range gets five stars!
Do you know how I know a product is REALLY good? When I already have a new one waiting for me, for when I finish the old one. I have written a full review on Dermalogica’s Microfoliant before but I recently finished a bottle and was so happy to open my cabinet and see another one waiting for me that I knew had to give them another mention. Recently, my skin had finally cleared up and was looking great but with the continued use of Acne products, I had a horrible reaction that resulted in my skin looking and feeling scaley. So I reverted back to my reliable Dermalogica Microfoliant, to get my skin in top shape. Pairing the Dermalogica Super Rich Repair Moisturizer and Microfoliant gives you an outstanding duo that restores skin and leaves it looking incredibly smooth, healthy and dewy! I have been getting more and more comments on how great my skin has been looking recently, and I owe thanks to these two products which have removed any sign of the dry, itchy scales that once were.
And that’s about the last drop of this month’s empties post. What have you recently finished lately?
