30 Jun RBSecretBox: What’s the Secret?
If you’ve been living underground for the last 2 years, I completely understand if you haven’t heard of Retail Box yet, but if you’re walking among the rest of us – chances are, you’ve heard of them and hopefully tried their online store. While their biggest focus is on their extensive range of professional haircare, they also offer cosmetic brands that aren’t readily available in South Africa like The Balm Cosmetics and of course, my favourite, Billion Dollar Brows.
Two years ago, Retail Box launched the #RBSecretBox which is a surprise box of professional products that target specific skin and hair types, to ensure that it contains the best selection of goodies perfect for YOUR skin and hair. Each box contains a few different professional products and beauty goodies, and unlike other beauty boxes, the products are always deluxe travel sizes or full sized products, and when they do slip in a sample or two, they don’t add it to the value of the box.
So what’s the catch? The #RBsecretbox has no specific release date but they are normally around a month apart. Don’t quote me on that, though, because last December they released a whopping 3 different #RBSecretboxes. It’s up to you to keep up with social media and their website for hints and prompts of when the next one is going to be released. When they do go live, I advise logging in immediately and snatching up yours because they sell FAST!
So when the team at Retail Box asked if I wanted to be part of the #RBSecretBox 25, I was like, “HELL YES!”
I didn’t know much of what to expect but the clue was, “Create the perfect overall condition on your scalp with this Duo, to nourish and replenish your hair for better growth.” Now some of you may remember that 2 years ago, I chopped off my ‘passed-the-bra-strap’ long hair. It was the longest my hair had ever been, but it was looking unhealthy and motherhood didn’t allow for any pretty styles, so it sort of just stayed in a messy bun, always!
Cutting my hair was a great change of scenery, but being a typical girl, I am now ready for longer, prettier hair. I want it now. But let’s face it, it doesn’t work that way. I strongly considered hair extensions but I am just not in the position to afford them right now. So, my best option is to remain patient and grow my hair out naturally.
Thankfully, this month’s #RBSecretBox obviously heard my sighs of frustrations and revealed a product duo that targets hair growth. The Quick Grow Shampoo and Conditioner is a freshly scented duo that understands that the trick to faster hair growth, begins at the root. Each product is valued at R225, but you could pick up the #RBSecretBox for R230 – so yes, you’re basically getting the conditioner for R5! (counting my savings because Christmas is coming…)
So I haven’t had the chance to really see any major results in my hair length – I mean, I am not going to make some crazy claim that I woke up with Rapunzel Hair after a single wash. Although, that would be pretty impressive 😉 . But let me give you the low-down on each product and I will keep you up to date on social media with my results – cool? Cool!
Right off the bat, we know I am a sucker for sleek pretty packaging. Both products didn’t feel like cheap plastic, but rather had a velvety finish to it. I love the simplistic pink, paired with the bold lettering. As for the name Quick Grow – it’s straight to the point and doesn’t leave you questioning what it’s targeting. I like that. I am a huge fan of pump bottles, they just make life a little easier but both products are a bit thick and gloopy, so trying to get out an adequate amount can be a little tiresome.
I couldn’t quite place the scent and had thought it was some sort of berry at first, but later read up that it is, in fact, pink apple. Either way, I am a fan of the fresh, sweet scent that isn’t obnoxiously fruity but has a light, uplifting smell. The shampoo is said to be packed with a propriety blend of advanced
The shampoo is said to be packed with a propriety blend of advanced aminos that are scientifically formulated to nourish the hair shaft and scalp with the precise balance of vitamins, minerals and aminos. So Megan, what does that actually mean? Well… In essence, we struggle with hair growth because our hair is being stripped of important nutrients that is required to grow. Quick Grow Shampoo is packed with ingredients that are formulated to give your hair everything that it needs to grow quicker, all while conditioning your locks and improving the general texture and health of your hair.
The conditioner which also has the light scent of pink apple, is a thick and moisturizing formula. Admittedly, I usually use store-bought hair care products, so I am not used to the idea that with professional haircare, “a little goes a long way!” I found that with both the shampoo and conditioner, a tiny bit worked into the hair without me feeling like I needed more product. The Quick Grow Conditioner is formulated to create the ideal balance on your scalp and hair strands. Again, this is to ensure that the overall condition of your scalp has everything that it needs to result in hair growth and gives your hair a boost of shine. The conditioner is designed to give your hair the moisture that it needs while leaving your hair feeling nourished and replenished of essential minerals, vitamins and aminos that tend to be removed during shampooing.
BONUS! These products are not tested on animals and do not contain any sulphates or sodium chloride – winning.
So, you’re probably keen to see some results right? Well, me too! Head on over to Quick Grow’s Facebook page, give them a like, and take a look at their gallery.
