30 Mar [#365BeautyTips] Winter Lip Shades
The eleventh week of #365BeautyTips has come to an end and as promised, I have put together a round-up post which puts all the beauty tips, shared this week, in one place. The idea is to share any extra information and answer the questions that you may have asked on my social media posts. Remember that if you want to stay up to date with my 365 days of beauty challenge, then follow me on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.
THIS WEEK’S THEME IS… LIP SHADES FOR WINTER
#365BEAUTYTIPS – DAY: 78
I am known for my gorgeous collection of berry shades and wanted to spend a week dedicated to sharing my favourite lipsticks, glosses and stains that are perfect for the best time of year… WINTER! To start the week, I opted for a lip hugging applicator that rules them all. The L’Oréal Paris Infallible Gloss in Cream – 107 Who’s the Boss (I am also a huge fan of the name!) is a rich and highly pigmented gloss in a deep “wine” shade. The formula is created to last longer by sticking to the lips while still hydrating and leaving them feeling nourished even through the cooler months. Besides offering the winning combination of longevity and vibrant shine, the applicator is a unique shape that makes application easier than ever by quite literally hugging the shape of your lip.
#365BEAUTYTIPS – DAY: 79
I had never worn red lipstick until I found this winning combo, now it’s rare that I am not sporting a red lip of the sort. Luckily for me, red is versatile and is great for winter too, which means you can probably expect me to be prancing around with red lips 70% of the time. The L.A.Girl Matte Flat Pigment Gloss took the beauty community by storm when they were finally brought to South Africa by Dis-Chem Pharmacies. Although they give the most phenomenal pigment, I found that they dried my lips (and felt like drying tar) and as the name suggests, the colour is well… flat. Wanting to give the LA Girl Matte Gloss in GLG842 – Secret, a little depth, I added the Essence XXXL Longlasting Matt Effect gloss in 07 – Silky Red. The colour on it’s own is a beautiful coral-toned red, perfect for summer and the texture is velvety smooth and wears beautifully throughout the day but by combining the two, it gives the ultimate red lip duo which I could never tire of.
#365BEAUTYTIPS – DAY: 80
This winter lip is an affordable variant from Essence‘s Berry Merry Trend Edition in the shade 01 – Let the Berry Tales Begin (how cute!?). Although the formula can be a little waxy, the colour can be built up to a bold berry shade that is edgy and simply gorgeous for winter! As always, Essence takes gold when it comes to a girl on a budget and there’s no denying that their range of colours will have you buying more than just one.
#365BEAUTYTIPS – DAY: 81
Ever buy a lipstick that is just a tad too dark for society? As much as I love this daring shade, I knew tha I’d have to lighten it up for everyday wear. The LA Girl Matte Flat Finish Pigment Gloss in GLG846 – Black Currant is a dark plum that will really pull together and complete a dramatic look. However, it applies a little patchy and just like the red dries like concrete, making the texture of your lips horribly uncomfortable. That’s why I paired it with the silky smoothe Matt Effect XXXL Longlasting lipgloss from Essence in 05 – Velvet Rose which lightens the colour, creates dimension and leaves your lips feeling and looking like velvet.
#365BEAUTYTIPS – DAY: 82
Winter means sipping lots of hot chocolate, right? Rimmel London‘s Provocalips in 230 – Kiss Fatal boasts a formula that can’t be kissed off. To be quite frank, this is one of the very few lipsticks that lasts right until the morning after (and even there, you might just find yourself scrubbing it off), it’s THAT good at lasting! At first, I thought this would be a more “dressy-up” colour with it’s plum tones, but I have grown quite attached to the shade and am on my second one already. I kind of feel if my favourite plum shade and my favourite nude shade had to make a love child, this would be it, and because it’s my favs, it boasts unbeatable longevity.
#365BEAUTYTIPS – DAY: 83
It is not all dark and dreary during winter and with just the right pop of berry, you could have the perfect bright pink on a winter’s day. The Essence Merry Berry Lipstick in 02 – Pink and Perfect (isn’t it just?) really is a gorgeous girly shade that’s pigment can be built up with ease. I had featured the darker shade from the same collection, earlier this week but found that this one is more moisturising and luminous than the other and wears evenly on the lips. I tend to be reaching for this shade when I am in need of that burst of juicy colour.
#365BEAUTYTIPS – DAY: 84
My last shade has been highly requested for the winter months. Yes I agree, we all need a nude that is subtle enough for everyday wear especially for work, but who said we can’t still enjoy the berry tones that winter has to offer, too? Sounds to good to be true? Introducing Elizabeth Arden‘s colour moisturising lipstick in the shade Iced Grape. It’s a beautiful nude shade with just a hint of berry and perfect for everyday wear. I also love how nourishing the formula is, especially great for the cooler weather and as with all Arden lipsticks, the colour payoff is vibrant and applies evenly.
And that is a wrap on the last 7 days. Whoop-Whoop! Remember that I love any feedback – what have you enjoyed seeing, what would you like to see more of and perhaps if you have any suggestions, questions or products you would like me to chat more about. I really enjoyed the themed days – what themes would you like to see next?
