19 Oct Why pretty underwear IS important
I was busy working yesterday, when I felt a stab to my heart – you know the one. It’s the feeling of betrayal from your favourite, most comfiest, most reliable and most faithful bra. It’s the somewhat ugly and faded bra, the one that you hate to throw in the wash because you know that you’ll probably end up needing it’s support (and comfort) later that day.
I had a mini meltdown and went on to try and explain to Darren what it is like, trying to find a new bra that will be just as good. Finding the bra tri-factor of comfort, correct fit and the right support is a daunting if not impossible task. But it got me thinking about underwear – my underwear. When I visit the lingerie section of any shop, I always go for the 2 pack of bras that features a simple black and white t-shirt bra. Nothing pretty or fancy, just simple and plain. Panties? I am ashamed to admit how unflattering mine are.
I can’t think of a time where I took pride in something as simple as my underwear. Perhaps it has to do with the issues that I have with my body and being in my underwear means that I am left feeling vulnerable. It’s time that I change that train of thought though. Underwear is the foundation of any outfit, it’s the layer of skin you should feel most comfortable in, other than your actual skin! Think about it, if your bra is too tight and your panties are pinching your bum, you feel uncomfortable throughout the day, leaving your confidence on an all time low and feeling rather glum. Underwear is the first thing that you put on and the last thing that you take off. You should feel empowered, pretty, bold and feminine, all at the same time!
But I don’t. All my underwear is either ill-fitted, faded, lost it’s shape or poking a hole in my heart. My underwear makes me feel frumpy, old and unattractive. And I am on a mission to change that.
Before, I thought that pretty underwear was only for one type of girl but then I was introduced to the beautiful world of Instagram, where I discovered that underwear can look flattering on ALL shapes, sizes and bodies. What is truly beautiful is a girl’s confidence to rock her body.
Which one is for me?
Are you also looking for pretty underwear? There are so many styles, colours and fabrics that it can become so overwhelming to pick one. I decided to feature a few of my favourites from local brands and stores – let me know which is your top-pick?

Still not sure which one suits your style?
If you’re still not sure which style suits your fancy, then why not sign up to Lingerie Letters, the subscription service that sends you a pretty pair of knickers every month? This is one subscription that has always left me intrigued. Let’s face it, chances are that I will head to the store, on a mission to get something different but come home with something of the same and feel no difference. Right? Well, Lingerie Letters sends a surprise pair of panties (or a thong, if that suits you better) every month. Their designs are so incredibly pretty and ladylike, that I wish that I could just order a surprise me x 10, to start off my collection of pretties. I always have regret when I see which designs they’ve sent out this month. Regret because I still haven’t signed up!
Looking to match things up?
There is a meme that makes its rounds every now and then, that hints that you’re only an adult once your panties match your bra. My mom and I have often joked that it is far too much effort to always ensure that your bra and panties match. Do you agree? Well, whatevs, I plan on getting pretty, flattering, matching sets that match with other sets.
I’d love to know which styles, brands and colours you feel most empowered wearing? I have no idea where to even begin so I chose to blog, naturally.
